I don't get into minor league ballparks as much. Although if I do visit all 30 MLB ballparks eventually, I'm sure I will need new places to travel.

It would be hard for the Red Sox to discontinue an affiliation that is so close to the city of Boston. Esepcially one with a decent amount of history.

Since the major league teams are the ones responsible for holding tryouts, I would recommend contacting the Rockies and asking if they are planning any open tryouts in the area.

Hello, heard about this few weeks ago talking with another ball player in Florida, I live in the GJ area and wondering if there has been any word on a possible open tryout for the Grand Junction Rockies and if so dates? Please let me know, thank you.

The Mets and Yankees need to keep things even, so the Yankees can have a NY-Penn League team in Staten Island because the Mets have the Brooklyn Cyclones in the same league. There was talk of the Mets trying to add a AA Eastern League team on Long Island, but the Yankees would object. And even though Newark would be a one season thing, the Mets don't want the Yankees to have any additional teams in the region.

If the Mets could block the team from playing in Newark, how can they play on Staten Island?

In about 1988, Nashville had two teams, one in the American Association and one in the Southern League, for, I believe, two seasons... that was when the Southern was trying to find a home for somebody, similar to the Danville situation of '98 (I have a hat from that team, which I believe was the Danville 97s..) anyway, those two Nashville teams about ran poor Herschell Greer Stadium right into the ground

Mike, I've used your league history pages many times the last few years but only recently stumbled on the blog. I'm a long time road tripper too. My son was born in early June last year and had been to six parks by the time the season was over.

My wife and I drove up to Danville from Charlotte the night before for the Bobby Cox statues. It was my 3rd or 4th visit, and I've always had a good time. The baseball's not the best, but it's fun to see the brand new prospects. Kind of a freak accident happened when a light cover above us had been previously broken and some shattered glass fell on about 12-15 people. The staff were great, offered everyone free tickets and seats under the cover. Certainly won't keep me from returning.

Nice work on the blog.
